Here’s a beautiful surprise folk album for you – Forever Son‘s Ten Months. One of those rustic and melodic charmers that swiftly disarms you, feel right at home as you listen to the soft electric, acoustic and banjo strummings shimmering across ten fine songs, written in ten fruitful month as the title reveals. Melbourne-based but hailing from Victoria’s Surf Coast, Forever Son is Jack Robbins, a man with evident talents in the songwriting craft.
Drawing on old-school folk, Americana and little touches of psych, Ten Months is a rich package bursting with warmth and authenticity. Robbins says, “I really wanted to create something that fused a bunch of styles. Lyrically the album was inspired by my longing to be near the beach and take a break from the big smoke.” Growing up in Anglesea jamming with local mates Fraser A. Gorman and a few King Gizzes, yet writing Ten Months in the gritty frontier-feeling town of North Melbourne, the nostalgic longing for something simpler comes across loud and clear.
