Spinifex Gum ~ Locked Up feat. Briggs and Marliya

Music collective Spinifex Gum, featuring Felix Riebl and Ollie McGill (The Cat Empire), Marliya (Gondwana Choirs) and BRIGGS (A.B Original) release Locked Up, a song criticising the sorry and shameful treatment of Aboriginal young people held in juvenile detention. A powerful reminder that nothing has changed since the 2016 Four Corners investigation into Darwin’s Don Dale Youth Detention Centre, featuring the infamous footage of young Dylan Voller shackled and hooded like a Guantanamo Bay detainee, Locked Up speaks truths most Australians cannot seem to fathom. If you jail children, only the adults are ever to blame.

Powerful and necessary, shameful and distressing, Locked Up is the type of song politicians and racists hope you never hear.
